Biography
Dr. Shamsa Al Awar is a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Chair of the Ob/Gyn Department at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, UAE University. She earned her MD with distinction from Sultan Qaboos University and completed her postgraduate training at McGill University, Canada, receiving the Alice Benjamin Award for Excellence. She holds the FRCSC, American Board Certification in OB/GYN, and FACOG. With over two decades of academic and clinical leadership experience, Dr. Shamsa has held senior roles at Tawam and Al Ain Hospitals and remains active in fetal medicine, holding a master's degree in advanced obstetrical and gynecological ultrasound. She is certified by the American Board of Medical Quality and in medical-legal consultation. A strong advocate for women’s health, she plays a national leadership role in breast and cervical cancer prevention programs and serves in various national boards, including as President of the UAE Society of OB/GYN.
